The Fiddlehead Landing Hut was built in 2012 by PAWS and the Powell River Rotary Club. It is perched on the shore of the expansive and mysterious Powell Lake, which is part of the famous 80-km-long Powell Forest Canoe Route. Chanterelle mushrooms can be found here in season. Trekking up the Fiddlehead Trail to Confederation Lake, and down Confederation Lake Trail to Inland Lake makes for a wonderful day hike.
This is a steep but beautiful section of the Sunshine Coast Trail featuring lovely stretches of forest and mossy gullies. It is a nice hike in summer or winter, each season bringing its own magic to the area. One of the highlights of this trail section is Vomit Vista – no less gorgeous because of its unfortunate name!
